Areosa is a parish of Viana do Castelo whose name comes from the combination of two words "ar" "osa", where "Ar" means air in general and "osa" means wind.
It is known for its Fortim da Areosa and the Ruins of the Old City of Santa Luzia or Citânia de Santa Luzia which is classified as a National Monument.
