Reusable social mask made from the traditional valentine scarf.
The Valentine's Handkerchiefs present themselves as the most genuine poetic and artistic form used by the girls of Minho, at the age of marriage.
Consisting of a square of linen, or cotton, which the young embroiderer embroidered to her liking, the valentine's scarf was part of the typical feminine costume, but had another function to play: the conquest, by the girl of the young man with whom she fell in love.
Not so long ago, that the whole Minhota girl started to embroider very early.
When, later, as a married woman, her eyes insisted on fleeing to the young man she had already chosen in her heart, she started to embroider the handkerchief she had given her, giving way to the most intimate feelings.
The Papaya Mask is the result of Minho resilience, of women who carry art in their hands and generational strength in their hearts.
At a time of pandemic, when they lost their jobs, they combined will and need, love and opportunity, to create a product that is, above all, a message of hope.
